If I made a pie chart of what thoughts occupy my mind the most it would have to be work, random activities like sports, reading etc and food. The ratio is 3:2 between work and the other two grouped together. The random activity and food section is fluctuating in nature. Food can easily occupy the full 40% sometimes. Which brings me to the title of the blogpost, breakfast. It is my favourite meal of the day. There are so many places where I found the perfect breakfast. It made sense to dedicate an entire post to that.
First on the list is breakfast at Mondegar's. The full breakfast with omlette, buttered toast and a glass of juice. The food is great but what adds the special touch is the jukebox. Early in the morning it is belting out music by The Doors or Pink Floyd. I love the combination. Its the perfect note to start your day on. Next up (quite literally) is Wich Latte. They some delicious breakfast bagels and the standard fare of omlettes and sandwiches as well. The bagels come in a variety of flavours and fillings. There is always the option of some breakfast dessert as well!
Continuing with places in Bombay, there is Crepe Station. Its the top on my list for 'guilty pleasure breakfast'. The reason being they serve the perfect waffles. A slight crunchiness on the outside yet soft to bite into. It comes with maple syrup or any other sauce you please. Their normal breakfast fare is quite good too which features even parathas and upma. Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf is also similar with respect to the food when compared to Crepe Station and it opens at 7:45 am which is great! But, the best breakfast omlettes in Bombay are found in Koolar & Co. Their kheema pav is also one of the most sought after dishes. I love the ambience there and the very colourful owner too. The waiters are jolly and remind me of Santa Claus.
There are a few more places which I could go on about but I would like to keep this short. The next city is Pune. My favourite place in Pune for breakfast was German Bakery. I discovered their breakfast fare quite late. It was only after I was half way through my engineering course that I discovered it. They had some very different juices like honey melon which I used to thoroughly enjoy. I liked the fresh fruit bowls and bread as well. Needless to say I was shattered when it was torn apart during the bomb blast. Another place which deserves a mention is Vaishali. Every Puneite will swear by it. They have the best south Indian food in town. The fact that it is packed with people early in the morning is a testament to how good it is.
The final destination is Manchester. The best breakfast here is undoubtedly available in my kitchen. I offer coffee, hot chocolate, omlettes with every concievable filling, waffles with maple syrup and toast with butter or Nutella. I am an expert in tossing omlettes now. Its a six sigma process too! Lets be honest here though. I have not really had the opportunity to try too many breakfasts in Manchester. Its either because I have a class early in the morning or its a tad too expensive. I have tried the full english breakfast once and it is very filling! Though, I would much rather have a coffee instead of the traditional tea. More on Manchester breakfasts later!
